Solar Panel Sizing | On-Grid & Off-Grid
About This Tool
The Solar Panel Sizing & Design Calculator is a precision software tool designed for residential users, solar installers, and energy experts to design solar systems for homes or businesses efficiently.
Input is taken by users for daily energy consumption (kWh), system type choice (off-grid, on-grid, hybrid), and region-specific solar conditions like peak sun hours (HSP) to obtain overall output describing suggested panel wattage, number of panels, inverter capacity, battery capacity (if lithium or lead-acid systems are used), approximated DC/AC current, and roof or ground space requirements.
Panel Options
Polycrystalline (330 W) and Monocrystalline (530 W) are available panel models providing diversity for diverse budgets and efficiency needs.
Battery Sizing
For hybrid and off-grid systems, correct battery sizing is imperative. Battery Ah requirements are determined based on system voltage, depth of discharge (DOD), and backup time calculations.
The product is designed with generic industry equations and assumption of efficiency for dust, temperature, and wire loss specific to each region so guidance generated is based on actual in-use efficiency.
Inverter capacity is calculated based on a conservative safety factor for efficient operation and safety under diverse loads.
